Xmas Gifts for: Courtney Love

Mirage 20th Anniversary Concert With Slash And Friends

Arguably the grand-dame of grunge music (and therefore basically the whole entire nineties), Courtney Love is a force to be reckoned with. Wife of Kurt, mother of Frances Bean and accomplished musician in her own right, Courtney has long been the controversial, loudmouth, completely crazy-ass punk rock princess we all know and, er, love ;). Props to her that she’s still around and kicking it old school, as seen in this photo from a performance last month. So we think she deserves a very merry Christmas this year, and we’re looking forward to giving her some handmade gifts to make it all the better!

First up, is it me, or is Courtney’s fashion sense looking worryingly subdued these days? How about a dress to take her back in time?

ramonesdress

This fantastic dress from designer Idil Vice’s fashion rocks label would be perfect! Its glam styling, and very grungey/kinderwhore look is the kind of thing Courtney would have rocked on stage in the Celebrity Skin era, especially since it pays tribute to some of the founding fathers of punk music, The Ramones. And since the nineties seem never to have really ended in Courtney’s world, you’d probably see her wearing it on the street today!

… But maybe we shouldn’t be encouraging Love, dubbed “the most controversial woman in the history of rock” by Rolling Stone magazine. She does have a tendency to shoot her mouth off, resulting in amusing incidents like her gatecrashing an MTV interview with Madonna way back in 1995. Sometimes Courtney would do well to remember that…

This wall decal from motif-art-deco might well just be the perfect mantra for her living room wall ;)

Yet Courtney will always be Courtney, let’s face it, and that’s why she still has the following that she does. We’re sure she’d be very flattered to see the following tribute by one very talented DaWanda designer:

courtneydoll

This amazing trash-doll was created by Berlin based designer LeChatVIVI, and is part of a lovingly handmade collection of artisan dolls which resemble famous musicians. We’ve got the Amy Winehouse doll here in the office, and let me tell you, the detailing on these things is just exquisite. A beautiful tribute, and hey, what a surprise Courtney would have on Christmas morning, seeing her own face grinning back at her in piles of wrapping paper ;)
