Today sees the first of a new feature for 2014, as we take a look at our favourite new shop of the month. This month the honour goes to Plexida, a fantastic knitwear shop from Greece who recently opened up shop on DaWanda. Here you will find a wide range of hand knitted and crocheted items for all seasons and occasions – we especially love the cute Peter Pan Collars. Plexida has really played with the craft of knitting and crocheting to create unique, modern and stylish clothing and accessories. We caught up with the brains behind Plexida, Vasiliki, to find out a little bit more about the products and the brand. Vasiliki’s favourite product in her shop is the blue braid headband pictured above.

Describe yourself in one sentence

I’m an avid perfectionist knitter from Greece who has been knitting and crocheting for over 30 years.

What inspires your work?

At first, my main inspiration were my beloved ones, since I was trying to knit what’s best for them. Positive feedback made me try harder to create knits for every need. Knowing that my knitted garments are being enjoyed by people from different countries all over the world, and by people with various styles, really encourages me to create

Tell us about your typical day as a designer

I work part time at a small local yarn store, where I’m surrounded by colours and yarns. Usually, I spend a lot of time trying to choose the yarns that best suit my designs. When I get home I’m engaged in knitting and preparing my orders. While I’m knitting my orders I often come up with something new – an alteration or a totally new design – so I quickly note it down so I can polish it up later.

What is your favourite DaWanda shop or product?

Milloo, another DaWanda seller based in Greece, is my favourite DaWanda shop.

What made you decide to sell on DaWanda?

I’ve been knitting since I was a child, but it was only a year ago that I decided to share my creations online. When I discovered DaWanda I was really excited, since it’s based in Europe, it means I can connect with people from European and neighbouring countries easily.

If you would love to sell your handmade items to our international community, sign up for a DaWanda shop today – it’s free to register, there are no listing fees and only a 10% commission on successful sales . We look forward to meeting you!
