Please tell us a bit about yourself:
I was born in China and studied in the US. I then emigrated to Singapore, following my husband. I worked in Singapore in the Information Technology area for about 15 years until I had my second child. I then picked up painting again and decided it was time for me to do what I love, which is to be a full time mother and an artist.

How did you discover that you have creative tendencies?
One has to be creative when one works in the Information Technology field. I had some inventions and wrote some patent papers as a Computer Scientist. I always love to engage my mind intensively to create something. Painting allows me to do that.

Where do you find your inspiration?
Everything around me inspires me, such as my baby, newspapers, magazines, books, poems, gardens, parks and nature. I find if you work hard and are in a creative mood, you get inspired easily. However, if you do not work for an extended time, it can be difficult to find inspiration.

How did you come up with the ideas for the products in your DaWanda shop?
I am constantly looking for new ways of using my art. When you are looking out for new ideas, you get inspired by great many things, hence the new products.

Which materials do you use to create your products?
I use pigment ink, heavy art paper, vinyl and lamination sheets for my Giclee art prints. For jewellery, I use crystal clear beautiful hand-made glass tiles and resin

Please give us a brief summary of your creative process?
When I am inspired by some writings, some photo or some other paintings, it connects to something in my mind that I have always been thinking about. I continue my thinking and visualize it in my mind. If it is not something extraordinary, I will put it aside. If it is, as I read and visualize more, gradually, the image becomes clearer to me till the point that I need to put it onto paper or canvas. The final product is out.

To create jewellery, I need to put adhesive of glass tiles onto image and let it dry for at least 12 hours. In the meantime, I check it constantly to make sure that it dries beautifully. If there is something wrong, I’ll make another one to ensure that I will give my customer the best.

I also create resin jewellery. It is quite difficult to work with resin. You need to work on an open air environment and wear gloves. But it is fun.

What characterises your products/your style?
It is romantic, delicate and elegant with nature themes.

Who are your customers?
My prints and magnets are for those who love romantic, delicate, elegant and nature themes. My laptop skins are for people who love their laptops. My jewellery has various kinds of designs suitable for ladies of all ages.

What do you want to achieve in the future as a Designer/Creative?
Most importantly I want to create more and more beautiful paintings to fully develop my own unique style. Secondly, I would like my products to be appreciated by a wider audience. Thirdly, I want to explore new products that can be produced with my art.

What role does DaWanda play in your daily creative life?
It plays a very important role. It allows me to connect with my customers and inspires me to work harder.

How has your life changed since you opened your DaWanda shop?
Dawanda changed a lot of my life. I become busier. It is a great outlet for my art. Now, not only I need to create my art, I also need to maintain the shop in Dawanda, happily though. I spend quite some time each working day on Dawanda to check the hot trends and forums, and to list my products.

Please give us the names of three of your favourite shops on DaWanda:
