If you love paper, you will be thrilled with this retro striped straw wall decoration by Mollie Makes! It’s super easy to make and adds a bit of colour to any blank wall.
Paper straws are a must for any party, but they don’t have to be for bubbly sodas. Gather up a couple of packets of straws and conjure up this radiant wall decoration. Once you have the hang of it, you can venture forth on a multi-layered, larger and even more impressive wreath. The contrasting colours lift this wreath from the wall and really make it stand out.
What you need:
With a compass on the foam board mark a circle with an outer diameter of 19 cm and an inner diameter of 12 cm. Cut out this circle with a sharp cutter. Cut the straws so they can slide onto the circle easily.
Cover one side of the circle with double-sided sticky tape and remove the protective layer. Start with four long straws and stick these to the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock points of the circle. Double-sided sticky tape is great because the position of the straws can be changed. Alternatively, you can use a hot glue gun to make it stronger.
Now place the remaining straws around all sides of the circle. Stick short and long straws on alternately until the circle is completely covered.
Place the two ribbons on top of each other and tie into a bow. Cut the ends of the loop and attach with a hot glue gun. Now you can hang your wreath with a piece of string .
